I’ve got way too many projects in the back yard right now, and half of ‘em have transmission issues. I’ve considered getting ‘em rebuilt, but it seems like everyone wants a small fortune to rebuild a tranny — you can buy one new for less. Take for example, this 4L60E transmission by Monster Transmission and Performance. Available in 2wd or 4wd applications, it’s good for up to 275 horses, and it starts at $1,400.
Of course, you can get higher horsepower applications, as well as different shift kits and what-not — but it’s good to know you can find a decent tranny out there, without having to become Eddie Murphy.
