Ride of the Day: 1989 Chevy Camaro
By Sean O'Hara

When you’re into cars at a young age, your first one’s going to be better than a lot of other people’s first rides. Take this slamming Camaro that young Cliff built and modded himself. Sure, it’s basic — but he did stuff a ’60s block in this ’80s RS.
A list of the mods includes:
- 355 V8 (late ’60s early ’70s block)
- Edelbrock 4 barrel carb 600cfm
- 2-1/2″ Y-pipe to 3″ single exhaust pipe all the way back to a dual outlet 3″ muffler
- Chrome tips
- Frame ties
- 5-speed man. out of ‘84 Camaro
- Posi rear-end out of ‘89 Trans Am 327
- Trio-gauges
- Air conditioning was removed for weight
- Mechanical gauges
- Pioneer 3900
- One 500W MTX amp for two MTX 4500 10″ subwoofers
- One 1400W Pyle amp for two 15″ JL Audio subwoofers
- Custom box
- Raised all the way around about an inch
- Chrome wheels 15×7, 15×10
- Monroe gas shocks
- Paint: Tricolor + House of Kolor
Why We Like It
We like this one because it’s clean and uncomplicated. It’s a Camaro — the idea here is stuff some power in it, drop the frills, and go fast while looking good. In concept, we can’t argue, nor would we want to.
What We’d Change
Not that those rims aren’t cool, but we could think of some sweeter sizes and styles for this one. The word Craiger comes to mind.
