Ride of the Day: 1981 Datsun 280ZX
By Sean O'Hara

This 280 has a story. Once upon a time, this custom street fighter with some bomb-ass airbrushing on the hood made heads turn as it cruised the main drag; now, it’s spare parts in someone’s field. The same kind of story happens to many a custom ride, but this one has a happy ending — sort of.
A list of the mods includes:
- Complete custom rear end body work
- Sweet yellow paint with Bruce Lee airbrushed on the hood
- Sick Ferrari-style side vents
Why We Like It
This little 280ZX’s custom body work included a completely re-worked rear end and side vents — but the real story was the retina-burning yellow paint and the Enter the Dragon pose of Bruce Lee on the hood.
What We’d Change
Unfortunately, this car ended as tragically as the icon painted on its hood, but we have many ideas of how to dispose of what’s now a collection of extra parts. Anyway, we’re glad to know that the Datsun’s Kung Fu was strong — it saved the lives of everyone in the vehicle.
