If you want a car that you can turn into damn near anything, then quit looking at old-school muscle and start looking at the late model Mustangs. It’s not that they’re supercars — it’s that with a few bolt-ons in the right place you can have a tiger by the tail.

A list of the mods includes:

  • 4.6 Alum Block
  • Stage 3 ported and polished heads
  • C&L Upper Plenum
  • Professional Products 75mm throttle body
  • SCT 90 mm Mass air
  • SCT Tuned with flip switch
  • Ford 9mm Racing wires
  • Ford Motorsport alum driveshaft
  • MAC Longtube Headers
  • MAC Prochamber no cats
  • Flowmaster muffler and tailpipes
  • Vortech v2sq supercharger 7lbs
  • Steeda TRI AX shifter
  • Auto meter boost and air fuel gauge on pillar
  • MSD mini LED shift light
  • Pioneeer CD mp3 player in bottom position
  • Pioneer 6.5 DVD player in top touch screen
  • Alpine 350 Watt Amp
  • Alpine type R 12″ Sub
  • 2o” Chrome Shelby Razor wheels and tires
  • OEM Cobra rear decklid and wing

Why We Like It

Mustangs have always been good street mods, but now it’s incredibly easy to build track cars, street rods, or show cars with basic aftermarket parts that won’t cost you more than the car itself. This also makes a great first project car. You really can’t screw one up. Start with basic bolt-on stuff like exhaust and intakes, and move on to stuff like cams and rear ends when you’re ready — plus, the Stangs always look good.

What We’d Change

Before we could offer advice here, we’d have to know what the owner was after. From this base he could go any number of ways — big power, super entertainment, or show-stopping good looks. It’s all up to the creativity of the guy in charge of the wallet.
