Editorial: Goodbye Lambo Doors

Trends come and go in the custom car and truck scene, but one of the more irritating ones of the last few years has been the bolt-on vertical door kit. Used to be that if a car had flip-up “scissor” style doors, it was completely fabbed and way custom. Now a few c-notes and some time can get your doors to tip on their sides.

Even better is the quality of these kits, which can be questionable depending on the manufacturer. I’ve shot magazine pics of cars with bargain basement kits and watched their doors wobble with a slight breeze.

Ultimately, the reason something is cool is because of its scarcity. When a product becomes so popular that soccer moms have them, it loses its appeal a bit.  As for me, I say good riddance to this trend. I just hope I never see a set of them again.
