Car Club Corner: Negative Camber
By Kevin Whipps
Along with Relaxed Atmosphere and Severed Ties, Negative Camber rounds out the “Big 3″ of mini-truck clubs. After the jump we tell you who they are, where they’re from, and why you should care.
Who They Are
Negative Camber’s members love their rides with a passion, and they especially love their rides LOW. Known as the “un-club”, they pour their energy into sweetening their rides, instead of sweating over restrictive club by-laws.
What They Drive
Despite their laid-back attitude, they do enforce one rule: To get in the club, you have to own a sweet custom truck. Once you’re in the club, they welcome all kinds of rides, from lowered cars to skied trucks. But you can tell they’ve got a soft-spot for the mini-trucks — their motto is “World’s Lowest.”
Where They’re From
The club started in Southern California in response to the dictatorial style of other clubs. Over the past 15 years, Negative Camber has grown dramatically, with members in Japan, Australia, Canada, and all over the US.
Why You Should Care
You’ll see NC’s members and their rides on magazine covers, TV, and at the Sema show every year. This year they snagged Mini-Truckin’ Magazine’s 2007 Club of the Year award, their second time to win the honor. The un-club’s success proves that sometimes it’s good to break the rules.
