Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to give up the safety of an airbag to install a custom steering wheel — or limit your creativity to only wheels which retain the factory air bag. Wheels like Raid Sport’s Airbag deliver the look and feel of a sporty custom and include a fully-functional airbag, too.
Raid Automotive Concepts manufactures these steering wheels in Germany with a fine attention to detail, yeilding a great grip feel and good fit-and-finish. They offer models in 320 mm, 340 mm, and 365 mm diameters, all with a full-size airbag. They’re also available in a variety of colors and trims and with the horn buttons located either in the center or on the right and left spokes.
Those of you lucky enough to own a car equipped with VW/Porsche’s TIPTRONIC or DSG transmissions will need the Daytona model, which includes the shift buttons.
Raid’s prices are listed in English pounds, but according to TMTUNING.com you’re looking at between $510 and $1,150 — not counting the required adaptor and one hour installation time — to own one of these.
