Shows to Attend: Resolutions 2008

Resolutions is a truck run — a three day event where there’s camping, a car show, and lots of debauchery. Truck runs started out as van events back in the ’70s then evolved into a mini-truck event when the vanning craze finally died. If you’d like to sample this slick of life, you’d better carve some time out of your schedule this December 28th, though, because Resolutions’ 30+ year history is coming to an end.

Since 1976, Sunset Truckers has been operating one of the best runs in the country. Rain or shine – and no matter how many times they’ve had to move – the show has always come off perfectly. This year though, is going to be the last time the show goes on, and that means the era of the truck run has officially died. As a result, people are driving from all over the country for this show. It’s going to be absolutely crazy.

If you haven’t gone before – and you’re into lowered cars and trucks – this might be a good event to attend. You can camp out if you’d like, but it gets pretty cold. Consider booking a hotel or bringing a trailer full of pallets to start a bonfire. And bring a warm jacket. Did I mention it’s cold?

Passes are $45 before the 15th and $55 day of.
