How To: Properly Take Wheel Measurements
By Kevin Whipps
Buying a set of wheels for your project can be the biggest decision you’ll ever make because nothing impacts your ride like a good set of rims. But rims come in all shapes and sizes. How do you figure out what will look right — and not rub? We recently found a pair of websites that walk you step-by-step through the process, explaining terms like backspacing and tackling questions like whether a set of 22s will tuck on your Expedition.
In short: if you’re planning on deviating dramatically from stock wheel sizing — and who the hell wouldn’t — you owe it to yourself to check out these sites.

This particular how-to isn’t all that useful to me (though I can see that it would be for lots of folks.)
However, kudos for posting a how-to here. FullOnCustom has lots of product reviews and pictures of reader’s rides, but I’d love to see more of this kind of thing. Only one post here is tagged “how-to”, but theres such a huge gamut of subjects one could cover in regards to customizing, you could easily post a new how-to post every week and never run out of subjects.
It seems most customizing these days is buying bling and installing it; there’s very little “custom” to it for most folks. Please post more how-to articles to help the shadetree home-garage customizers.
