Ride of the Day: C5 Chevy Corvette

Monday, November 5th, 2007

This Corvette will make you do a few double-takes. It’s a C5 from Lake Orion, Michigan that has taken on a distinctly ’50s look and feel. The normal rules about Vette’s with fins don’t apply here: you mess with this it will burn you while you watch its retro back-end as it leaves you in […]

Fly or Why? Wagon Wheels

Monday, November 5th, 2007

In my opinion, they offer all the look of Big Foot without any of the function. Hint: when someone builds a car they need a rope ladder to crawl into, there’s an expectation that it’ll do something interesting. Looking at this we just can’t imagine what that would be.
These 40″ wagon wheels are just too big to […]

Ride of the Day: 1968 Chevy Nova

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

If you asked a kid to draw you a picture of a generic muscle car, you’d get a crayon rendition of a Chevy Nova. That’s because the Nova is part of the template from which muscle cars were taken. Mix one part mom’s grocery-getter, one part easily-modded V8, then add a dash of extra ponies and some […]

The Mechanic’s Buddy: Pro Parts Washing For Small Shops

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

If you don’t trust your customized baby to anyone else, you’ll appreciate the Mechanic’s Buddy 3-in-1 parts washer. According to the manufacturer it’s a parts washing sink with a brush and hose, a spray cabinet/jet wash (like a dishwasher for parts), and even a brake washer. And it’s small enough for even home shops.

Green Grease: Better Grease = Less Greasing

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

Green Grease claims it doesn’t run off in the rain or in high heat. Originally developed for the marine and industrial market where regular grease just didn’t cut it, you can use it now on pretty much anything from your suspension bits, to o-rings, to hinges around the house.

Ride of the Day: 1971 Hemi Cuda

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

There just weren’t that many Hemi Cuda’s built, so finding them 30+ years after the fact is getting tricky. In fact, it’s beyond tricky. There just aren’t any more of them for people without “Trump deep” pockets. All is not lost, however: just make your own like Les from Hamilton Ontario, who took his six-banger […]

Motorad’s “Fail Safe” Thermostat: Fails In The Open Position

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

Most people don’t think of the thermostat as a performance item, but when it fails it’ll chew up your performance part investment faster than I can your kids can eat Halloween candy. The worst part: many traditional thermostats fail in a closed position. Motorad’s not-so-accurately named Fail Safe thermostat doesn’t. That’s a good thing.
