The Continuing Saga of Miss Belvedere

In In 1957, the city of Tulsa, OK devised a plan: build a huge time capsule, put a brand new car in it, and then 50 years later unearth the car and give it to one lucky person. The results: one less than spectacular ball of rust. But there may yet be hope for recovering the call Tulsa natives call “Miss Belvedere.”.

Tulsa had contracted with Boyd Coddington to perform a full restoration of the car, but it just seemed too far gone. At what point does a restoration become a replacement? But recently Safest Rust Remover, a company out of New Jersey, stepped up to take on one of their toughest jobs ever. They’ll receive the car in their shop next month, and they claim they can remove all the rust. It seems like a pretty daunting task to us, but you can follow their progress on their message board (link below).

We suspect that when they’re finished removing the rust, the car’ll just disappear. Good luck with that.
