Shotgun Bill Hood Scoops

Why is it that large protrusions on a hood capture gearheads’ imaginations so much? Looking at the Shotgun Bill scoop from Speedway motors, it’s not hard to see why. This thing looks mean. The name says it all; its duel inlets make it look like a double-barrel shotgun sticking out of your hood.
It’s made to fit onto 5-1/8” neck carbs only, but it’ll fit both two and four barrel carburetors. The opening at the base of the scoop is 7-3/8” by 18-1/8”, though the scoop itself is larger. The scoop comes with two paper filters as well as the hardware you need to install it.
It’s cast aluminum and is available unpolished for about $300 and fully polished for $400. Speedway also makes a version in faux carbon fiber for $500 as well, which is aluminum underneath coated in a fake carbon fiber finish. But you don’t get much better than polished on a classic V8, and the fact that it’s cheaper to boot – well that makes it a no-brainer.
