Chevy’s Best Dressed Engines
By Sean O'Hara
The small block Chevy is the rock-solid friend of the car customizer, so why not dress it up with a little chrome? The GM Performance Parts SB dress up kit includes all the parts you need to take the standard old small block from stock to street chic.
The kit starts with chromed-out valve and timing chain covers and ends with a shiny air cleaner to ride on top of the carburetor. You might be the only one who looks at it most of the time, but it’s still worth it.
Street pricing starts at $170.

I’m a big fan of chrome, in moderation; though I’m a bigger fan of anodizing. What I’m not a fan of however is badging, excessive at that. There’s too much on this stuff and if you’ve noticed anything about most of the custom whips out there, esp on non-exotics, is the dearth of badging. Just my 2¢.

+1 on the badging sentiment. I;m sorry, it;s mine now. Chevy no longer owns it, I do.
Also, as a side note, for anyone thinking that all Chrome dress-up parts are the same, I’ll go ahead and clue you in.
The cheapie ones you get for $5 at the auto parts store are very often cheaply made, and as such are not perfectly flat. WHat this means is that when you finish dressing up your new ride, it’s going to leak fluids like a sieve.
Though I’ll also state that I have been known to work absolute miracles with enough Silicone.
