A 1K HP Twin-Charger For Your 3rd Gen Chevy Small-Block
By Rick Reimundez
Wheel to Wheel Powertrain in Michigan is singing the siren song of customizers: power, and lots of it. They’re applying licensed Rotrex compact supercharger technology to produce kits for a number of cars, like this twin supercharger kit for 3rd generation small-block Chevy engines. It’s designed to produce up to 1,000 horsepower.
Their twin Rotrex kit is mean to look at, too. It includes two very compact C38 head units – the most powerful of the C-type Rotrex chargers — all the drive pulleys, idlers, tensioners, belts, and complete oiling systems for the superchargers. It’s up to you to take care of — or have your shop take care of — the intake plumbing (and intercooler if you go that route, though for 1,000 hp, you’ll need it) and tuning of the installed kit.
There are a couple of downsides: first, it won’t fit in an F-body or a Corvette. It’s designed primarily for engine swaps – which could make for a serious sleeper installed in the right vehicle. Personally, I’d throw it into a 6-speed CTS-V – it’s not a swap, but they didn’t explicitly say it won’t fit in that. In any case, you’re looking at an entry fee of a cool $5,000. Besides emptying your wallet, you should also plan on 3-4 weeks lead time as they build the kits to order.

Umm, is that a typo or something? $5,000 seems pretty cheap for that kind of HP. Or is there some sort of hidden serious internal upgrades needed (but not included) for the engine to withstand the power ?
