Ride of the Day: 1970 Chevelle SS

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

Some approaches to car customization are just timeless. One such reciepe is to take an old muscle car — like this 70’ Chevelle SS — put a huge-ass 454 block in, then stuff it with lots of mail-order aftermarket parts, add some sweat and a few beers, and end up with a great custom cruiser […]

Aero Turbine Exhausts

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

Generally, if you muffle the sound, you’re usually also stifling the exhaust flow – but Aero Exhausts uses a jet-engine-like turbine design that they claim improves air flow while keeping the noise police at bay. Not only do they claim performance gains over factory systems, but they also claim improved fuel mileage as well.

Shotgun Bill Hood Scoops

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

Why is it that large protrusions on a hood capture gearheads’ imaginations so much? Looking at the Shotgun Bill scoop from Speedway motors, it’s not hard to see why. This thing looks mean. The name says it all; its duel inlets make it look like a double-barrel shotgun sticking out of your hood.

Ride of the Day: 1991 Ford Ranger

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

The Ford Ranger can’t run with the big trucks – unless it has a completely home built suspension system that allows four feet of travel to the front wheels. At that point you could put the little ranger almost anywhere just like this one that lives in Kentucky.

Spoon Wheels: Classic JDM Style

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

These wheels are the Japanese equivalent of the Torq-Thrust D wheel. But they’re not all about style. Spoon’s offerings are about performance. Here’s why: First, they’re one-piece forged from aluminum and weigh in at just under 8-1/2 pounds (for the 15”) – and just under 12 pounds for the 16”. Lighter wheels = less unsprung weight = faster acceleration […]

Fly or Why? The MagChargR

Monday, October 29th, 2007

If you pick up any magazine that deals with cars, trucks, or motorcycles – particularly in the area of customization –  you’ll find snake oil sales pitches throughout the mag. I’ve been checking out one in particular from a company called STWA, Inc. (which incidentally stands for Save The World Air, Inc.) called the MagChargR. They […]
