Budget Bling: A Cheap (And Hot) Way To Store Your Bikes

What’s easier than collecting cars? Collecting bikes, of course. But even bikes take up space — especially if you have six or eight of ‘em. Harbor Freight has a great cheap-ass solution: a low profile motorcycle dolly. Now you can rack ‘em and stack ‘em.

What a great excuse to buy a new bike.

At just $90 right now — on sale from its regular, but still reasonable, $100 – it’s a bargain considering the time and aggravation you can save when it comes time to move your bikes around the garage, or even getting them turned around without a 54-point turn.

The dolly will work with any style of bike up to 1250 pounds, and it’s powder coated to keep it rust-free and looking nice. The dolly is only 1-3/4” off the floor, too, to minimize the danger of tipping, and it’s got a three position adjustable kick stand plate.

With this you can slide the bike into tight spaces, or even maneuver it into places you couldn’t normally since you can turn on a dime with the swivel casters.

There are other alternatives out there, but not much under $300. Plus, you could blow the $200 you saved on new pipes.

This would also work great for those of us who park our bikes perpendicular to the garage in front of another car, esp if that other car is a project car on stands.

Man, I could really use one of these for my bike. Like Fong mentioned, I park it up in front of my car in the garage, and sometimes it would be nice to be able to wheel it out sideways, rather than having to sit on the bike and try to do a 100-point-turn in that little space.

[…] recently showed you Harbor Freight’s knockoff version of a motorcycle dolly. That’s great if you’ve got a bike to move around, but what if you’ve got a project car […]

This looks pretty handy. While a light sportbike can be swiveled in place on the sidestand (with a little skill) you still can’t roll it sideways unless you have something like this.

I wonder how long it extends; some of the bigger cruisers are pretty long.
