Fly or Why? Sheepskin Seat Covers
By Sean O'Hara

We appreciate interior modification — no matter what you’re into — but when it comes to sheepskin seat covers, my thinking is: put the fuzz down and back away slowly. Most sheepskin seat cover ads say things like, “You’ll never be unpleasantly surprised by a hot or cold seat with a sheepskin cover.” Translated, that means that you can rely on the sheepskin to be hot and itchy year round.
It’ll also mat-up and shed throughout the year, giving your once-dignified ride the shag carpet/dog kennel look — which we hear isn’t in vogue now.
Yeah, they come in tan, black, and a slew of other colors. And they’re not even expensive, with an average price tag hovering around $45 for a set of two. Personally, I think you’d be better off using that cash to foot the bill for a car wash and some gas, but that’s just me.

I’ll admit it: I got a set of these for my 280Z in high school because the stock seats were torn all to hell and I didn’t know — at the time — that I could order reman vinyl stock replacements for a reasonable price. I got the ’skins from a local shop cheap.
And Sean’s right: they itch and shed. I never really liked them much.

I don’t really know “weather” as I live in southern CA so I can’t imagine anyone wanting that much fuzz in their ride. Not only is it SO not pimp but my activities leave me with mountain biking dirt, off-roading mud, snowboarding/beach water, shop “dust” and general sweat. The last thing I’d want is my seat covers “remembering” my activities.
I’ve got Wet Okole’s…They’re expensive but I like them for being able to shed everything I throw at it. My only complaint is the sun fade. Keep those sunshades up.

Not cool at all if you wear black and there are many more options out there… unless of course they are free and you seats look worse.

I got my sheepskins from Shear Comfort seat covers and they rule! warm in winter, cool in the summer as advertised. I wouldn’t put them in every car but they are soooooooooo posh
