Ride Of The Day: 1999 Nissan 200SX S14

Yep, we’re still on a JDM kick from last week, which is why Carsten’s 200SX S14 caught our eye. Of course, here’s the nasty secret: this car isn’t really custom. It’s the real deal.

Unlike most of us wankers who start an S14 build with an American 240SX and a shipped-from-overseas front clip, this lucky guy from the Netherlands just up and bought one. Specifically, he picked up an “S14A Z-Edition,” which includes a lot of options — and a bit of exclusivity. He says only 200 were produced, and only 100 of ‘em are red.

Mods include:

  • Custom clear corner lights

Yep, that’s it. So why is this car featured here on FullOnCustom?

Why We Like It

We drool to own one of these here in America, and here it’d qualify as custom, indeed. And this is a great, clean example of the species. Without all the over-the-top bodywork and impractical lowering, this would make a kick-ass daily driver.

What We’d Change

Obviously, we’d have to start with the aforementioned 240SX and front clip to build our own — something that we’re totally planning to do. In the meantime, we’d have a little fun under the hood of Carsten’s ride, giving that SR20DET the breathing power it deserves to deliver a full 300+ HP.

Man, what I wouldn’t give for a car like that. Upon first seeing this post I jumped right on CarSoup and the only 240 I found was with an automatic. Bush League.

I just want to let you know that I am sincerely honored!

At this moment I am located in Indiana and left my baby in the Netherlands for 2 years. I can’t wait to drive in my car again. It was always so nice to ‘feel’ driving that car.

Actually, considering the mod mentioned above, I’m even considering placing the orange corner lights back. I’ve still got them. That way, the car will be 100% original again.

I had been thinking of having a less restrictive exhaust too. The problem is that I would need to cut deeply in the rare rear lip.

In the end I made up my mind and, for me, the car really has plenty of power, extremely on a wet road, which actually is lots of fun (lol).

    Again, thanks for the review!
